What: "Flights to Freedom" - Lift MLK's Legacy Through Speech, Song and Art,(see below for details on helping us fold 1000 paper cranes for this event)
When: January 20th 3:00-3:45 PM
Where: College Park (Opposite Shiretown)
Who: This event is hosted by the Scott Center for Spiritual and Religious Life, the Anderson Freeman Resource Center, and the Center for Community Engagement at Middlebury College.
Gather with college and town community members for a special event honoring the life and message of Martin Luther King Jr. Be inspired by the readings from two MLK speeches performed by Oratory Now students, raise your voice in song with a pop-up choir, and witness our community-wide Paper Cranes Project take flight! Hot beverages provided. All are welcome.

All are invited to join in a communal effort across Middlebury College and Town to fold 1,000 paper cranes. Contact carolinneg@middlebury.edu to request a paper crane kit to contribute by January 20th. Kits and instructions can also be found at the Ilsley and Davis Libraries.
More on the "Flights to Freedom" Paper Crane Project: The ancient Japanese tradition of folding 1,000 paper cranes, called senbazuru, is undertaken as a prayer for healing, happiness, and good luck. The folding of cranes has become an act that symbolizes the hope for world peace.
