Howard Center's Education Series: Understanding Depression

Past event
Oct 7, 2015, 6 to 7:30 PM

The second session of Howard Center’s free Community Education Series on Wednesday, October 7, will be “More than the Blues: Understanding Depression and Its Treatment,” and will be presented by Joseph Lasek, MD.

Everyone experiences sadness, low energy, or decreased pleasure in things from time to time. When does ordinary sadness get to the point where increased concern is warranted? What do we mean when we say somebody is depressed? What can we do to prevent depression from happening or worsening, and what we can do to recover from depression? Dr. Lasek will talk about risk factors and preventative factors for depression as well as medical considerations related to depression. The presentation will also include a discussion of pathways to recovery from depression, including self-care/self-management, psychosocial interventions, psychotherapeutic interventions, and medical interventions.

The talk is from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm at Dealer.com at 1 Howard Street, Burlington (at the corner of Pine and Howard).

All Community Education Series presentations are free and open to the public. Registration is not required; seating is first-come, first-served. Opportunity for questions and answers. Complimentary parking on-site at Dealer.com. For additional information, call 802-488-6912 or visit www.howardcenter.org.

We hope to see you there!
