Fall's Color and Texture: Join Us for a Photo Walk in Warren Village

Past event
Oct 3, 2015, 2 to 5 PM

Do you want to capture the colors and textures of fall in the Mad River Valley? Or perhaps learn a new trick to add to your skills? Photo enthusiasts of the Mad River Valley, if you are interested in learning from seasoned pros and each other, grab your camera, put on comfortable walking shoes, and join us on Saturday, October 3 for a guided “photo walk” through picturesque Warren Village.

The event will begin at 2 pm with a brief informational meeting at the Festival Gallery, 5031 Main Street, Waitsfield. Then, take your own transportation to Warren for the tour.

After the tour, we’ll gather at The Warren Store for a wrap-up meeting and refreshments. Participants will then head home to edit their photographs and send in their favorites for inclusion in an album on the Vermont Arts Foundation Facebook page and possible printing in The Valley Reporter. Details of the photo sharing and publication will be talked about at the meeting on October 3.

Our guide for this first photo walk, Jeff Knight, has considerable experience in photo journalism. He has worked at UPI (Montpelier), The Caledonian Record, and The Valley Reporter. Jeff has been involved in graphic design and advertising at The Valley Reporter for over a decade, taking product photos as well as all manner of news and informational photography.

This photo walk is presented by The Valley Reporter and The Valley Arts Foundation, with input from local photographers including David Garten and Sandy Macys. The goal of this collaboration is to have a recurring Valley photo walk that will become part of the regular programming of the VAF. The Valley Reporter and the VAF want this to become your group, so please bring your ideas and experiences to help shape the group’s themes, topics, locations, and frequency of meetings. Local pros have already agreed to serve as guides for future tours – but your support is needed to make this happen.

Participants must have working knowledge of their camera’s operation. (Bring the manual.) This event is intended to be a social, community gathering with guided and shared learning.

The October 3 Guided Photo Walk is free. Advance registration is required, as space is limited. If you are interested in joining the “Fall’s Color & Texture” Guided Photo Walk in Warren Village on October 3, please e-mail Rebecca Silbernagel, Communications Director, Valley Arts Foundation, at silbernagel.r@gmail.com by September 30th. Register early to save your spot!
