Stop by this Friday, February 21st from 4:30-6:30, when we change things up a bit & work a little alchemy on three iconic French varieties -- Gamay, Syrah, & a Picpoul from great producers -- and taste these wines on their own; then we'll add a dollop of Viognier. Will Viognier make an already good wine even more interesting?!
Viognier is a wonderfully aromatic and complex flavored wine. Everything about the grape is extraordinary and exotic. Texturally soft with a creamy mouthfeel, it has a much lower acidity level compared to other white varietals but possesses intoxicating aromas and flavors of ripe apricots, musk, stone fruit, pears, ginger, orange, honeysuckle & more! Incredibly versatile with many food pairings, Viognier is clearly a stand alone wine.
Viognier has also been used in blending, particularly Syrah, for hundreds of years in the Rhône. Viognier's chemical compounds -- it's terpenes and esters are responsible for all of those big floral aromatics and fruity notes which, when used judiciously, trigger a chemical reaction that pops the aromatics, complexity, textural richness, & even the color of the dominant grape.
And, yes, you will get to taste our fantastic new arrival -- " Les Ruisseaux" Viognier -- on its own as well!
