Wednesday, September 16, drop-ins welcome between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Lake Champlain Maritime Museum

Early detection is vital to protecting Vermont’s water bodies from harmful invasive plants and animals. Elizabeth Lee, LCMM Ecology Program Director, and Evan Karge will be at the waterfront demonstrating how to identify aquatic invasive plants and hand-harvesting to remove them. Learn about spotting and monitoring invasives when you are out on the water. Also learn about mechanical harvesting for large areas. With this thirty minute orientation you can become a more successful monitor of aquatic invasive species and help create a better future for Lake Champlain. Information will be available about Vermont Invasive Patrollers--sign up for a 2016 training to become a monitor for your favorite waterway!

We welcome participants from home-school families, paddling, rowing and sailing groups, outdoor guides and outfitters as well as river and wetland conservation organizations and anyone interested in the health of our waterways.
