I would like to invite everyone to come enjoy The ReUse Fair, put on by Planting Hope, this coming Saturday in Montpelier. Details below:

The ReUse Fair, "A celebration of sustainable communities," is to be held at Christ Episcopal Church on State Street in Montpelier on Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The ReUse Fair is meant to foster a broader understanding of how one person can have an effect on their community and the environment. The event will also highlight how reusing items for new and interesting purposes not only keeps them out of the waste stream, but can even help people in other communities.

The event includes art, music, arts and craft vendors, games and activities, and demonstrations. Music will be by local favorites Dave Keller, Chad Hollister, and Mark LeGrand, Michael T and the Aristocrats and the Labor Days, as well as Nicaraguan Folkloric Dancers.

At the event, there will be an outdoor sculpture park curated by artist Janet Van Fleet and will feature the work of UVM art professor Beth Haggart as well as 10 other local artists. Outside there will be more than 40 artists and crafters that utilize found objects, repurposed and up-cycled items. There will also be games, activities and craft for kids by our partners ReSOURCE and speakers on several subjects relating to steps we can take to making a sustainable community.

During the event Planting Hope plans to collect two tons of used educational materials and household items that will be sent to Nicaragua to help support our programs there.
