Who's Milking Now? - Sept. 13 at Rokeby Museum

Did you know that nearly 1500 undocumented workers keep many of Vermont's dairy farms afloat? Join us at Rokeby Museum on Sunday, September 13 at 3:00 pm to learn more from Cheryl Mitchell of the Addison County Farmworker Coalition. Many of these Hispanic farm laborers are living and working right here in Addison county, where they are isolated by language, lack of transportation, and little time off.

A recent survey showed that 40 percent of workers earn less than minimum wage and never get a day off. About a third have had a work-related injury and say they are treated differently than American-born workers. Many endure restrictive living and labor conditions and are overly dependent on their employers. The Addison County Coalition and sister organization Migrant Justice work to assist and secure rights for Vermont's undocumented farm workers.

The program is $2 or free with Museum admission.
