The Essex Planning Commission will have a regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, in the community room at the Police Station, 145 Maple Street. The agenda includes the following items:
1. Public comments
2. Public Hearing on the 2016 Town Plan. Town plans must be updated every five years. The Planning Commission and Community Development staff have spent the past year drafting the 2016 Essex Town Plan, taking input from residents, community boards, and other municipal departments. The Town Plan presents a vision for the future of Essex and works as a guide for where and how development should occur.
The draft 2016 Town Plan does little to change the vision or overarching policies for Essex's future. Rather, the plan is being reformatted to be shorter and more engaging. Voters will decide whether to adopt the Town Plan at Town Meeting in 2016.
