Protect the Lake - Stop the Oil Trains!

Past event
Jul 7, 2015

On July 7 at 10 AM a flotilla of boats from both sides of Lake Champlain will come together to celebrate the lake and protest against the oil trains that threaten it. Exactly two years ago an oil train exploded in Quebec killing 47 people. Trainloads of toxic tar sands oil are rumbling along on antiquated tracks next to our lake every day and night. Join others who believe that oil should stay underground, NOT teetering alongside, or, in case of derailment, contaminating our lake. Oil and water don’t mix. Boats will be launching from the Fort Ticonderoga ferry pier in NY and from the VT state launch 1 mile south of the ferry on VT Route 73. Bring friends and a picnic and get together for music and fun on the NY side of the lake until 3 PM. For more info please write bobbiecar2@gmail.com
