Sunday is Pull Up Day

Past event
Jun 28, 2015, 9 AM to 12 PM

Have you seen this Queen Anne’s Lace look-alike consuming roadsides south of here and along interstate 89 before Richmond? It’s like a terrestrial milfoil—appearing as a gangly Frankenstein-esque Queen Anne’s Lace. If you want to prevent its spread in our area—please join me for an inaugural “Pull Up” day. As May hosts our Green Up Day, let’s make June Pull Up Day. Come with your spade shovel, work gloves, and trowels if you have them. Gloves and long pants/sleeves are a good idea—the plant can be irritating.

I will bring maps of where I have seen the weed on the local roadways in Hardwick, Greensboro and Craftsbury. Rte 16 north of the Bend and south of Glover could be another place of focus, depending on our numbers.

Join me at the Greensboro Ball field at 9 AM this Sunday 6/28. We’ll divide and hopefully conquer this plant which is poised to devour the space long held by the beautiful, colorful common summer “weed” flowers like orange hawkweed, daisies, and our Vermont State Flower, red clover.
