Volunteers Needed for Training Activity

Grand Isle Rescue is sponsoring a Multiple Casualty Incident (MCI) Training Activity on Saturday, October 19th in Grand Isle. An MCI is an event in which an emergency occurs involving more patients and scene complications than can be handled by crews initially assigned to the incident. Mutual aid organizations come together to handle the incident. This MCI training will involve Grand Isle County mutual aid organizations: rescue, fire, and police. The event will exercise the county's emergency response to such an MCI and make resources better prepared in the event of an actual MCI emergency.

For this MCI training activity, event organizers are in need of volunteer “patient models” to simulate various physical and emotional responses to being involved in a multiple car accident. A dozen or so volunteers are needed to take part as "victims/patients" in our training exercise. Both men and women of all ages are needed, teens would be welcome, and older children would be considered. The MCI scenario will depend in part on who volunteers. Volunteer participation will take approximately 3 hours on Saturday, October 19th in Grand Isle.

Emergency responder services in Grand Isle County thank you in advance for considering playing a part in enabling your county mutual aid organizations to better prepare themselves for handling emergencies in Grand Isle County. If you want to volunteer or are considering volunteering and have questions, please contact Marie Kilbride (Grand Isle Rescue) by phone at 372-3317 or by email at mjkilbride@aol.com.
