Moretown Freshies Farmers' Market Sept. 11

Past event
Sep 11, 2013, 4:30 to 6:30 PM

Hello Everyone,

We had another lively market last week with lots of new faces. A bunch of folks from the Moretown Village came to the market for the first time, and it was wonderful to see you all there. Thank you again to everyone who has been supporting this important effort.

We'll be out in front of the Moretown School this Wednesday, September 11th from 4:30 until about 6:30 or 7pm. I don't have a lot of details from the other vendors at the moment, but I'm confident that we'll have a delicious hot dinner, great baked treats from Sarah, yummy goat cheese from Constancia, hot jalapeno sauce from Mike, Mountain Woman Bars, eggs and maple syrup from Karen, beautiful flowers and remarkable veggies from Jenna, and wonderful contributions from other folks as well.

On our part, both my kids continue with their very successful homemade, from scratch brownie and chocolate chip cookie bar businesses. Thank you to everyone who has bought their baked desserts! They are becoming more confident and taking much more ownership of the process and their products as they gain skills and comfort.

I'll be there with a bunch of different fermented offerings. I'll have my signature mild but tangy kimchi, garlicky half-sour pickles (raw, live, naturally fermented), and Celtic Kraut for sure. I'm hoping to also have my new black currant/black cherry kombucha available, and in order to support that hope, I haven't been checking on it. I'll test it before the marke, but I've left it alone since last week in the hopes it would get nice and fizzy for this week.

I've also got a gallon of "Black and Blue" soda going, or lacto-fermented blackberry, blueberry and ginger soda, and I hope it will be ready by Wednesday. Since we pressed our first apple cider yesterday, I've got just a half-gallon of fresh cider with ginger fermenting into delicious sparkling cider. When I checked on both of these before writing this notice, it seemed like they may be ready in time. If either of these new sodas aren't ready for this market, they will be available on the 18th for sure.

Speaking of the future, on October 4th, we'll be having a festive community dinner and celebration alongside the market, and I hope lots of people will join us. In addition to our regular market vendors, we'll have tractor-pulled hay rides, cider pressing and possibly a bonfire. We may change the schedule a little to accommodate the additional fun, so please keep you eyes open for more information on that event as well.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the items that my kids and I will have at the market. I look forward to seeing you there.

Be well,
