The Bristol Downtown Community Partnership is looking for a few good folks. If you own a business or property in Bristol, work or live in Bristol, or just enjoy coming to Bristol from the 5-Town area and want to help it grow and prosper, then BDCP wants you!
On Monday, May 4th at 6:30pm in Holley Hall, Bristol Downtown Community Partnership is hosting an informational meeting to discuss the future of the organization, and to get YOU -- the people who live, work and play in the village -- to know the organization and become involved in keeping Bristol a vibrant place.
Bristol is one of Vermont's 24 Designated Downtowns. The Downtown Program works to bring resources (tax credits and grants) and training and technical services to help the local organizations preserve and revitalize historic downtowns and create strong communities.
The approach focuses on four areas: Business & Economic Development; Downtown Design and Historic preservation; Promotions & Marketing; and Organization, which includes fundraising and volunteer efforts.
BDCP has led or partnered with others to bring aid and improvements to the town through Bristol Bucks, the playground and park improvements, Cool Yule, the Chocolate Walk, and Pocock Rocks. BDCP provides information on places to stay, eat and play in the area, and connects businesses with agencies and organizations to help them meet their current needs.
This year, as a result of feedback we've gathered from a wide cross-section of our population, BDCP will be working on comprehensive maps of outdoor recreational opportunities that show existing hiking trails, biking routes, and fishing and swimming places, plus ideas for expanding opportunities in and around the village.
We're hoping to find interested Board and committee members, get feedback from the community, and expand our little organization to encompass a broader outlook with a clearer focus on the needs and desires of our community and the 5-Town area.
Won't you consider coming to hear what we are about, and join us in making Bristol an active, growing place? If there is a specific project you are interested in, come share your ideas with us and consider joining -- or better yet, leading a committee to work toward that goal!
We hope to see you, and bring a friend to the meeting on Monday, May 4th at 6:30pm in Holley Hall.
