The Mount Abraham Board met on Tuesday April 28 to continue the work on putting together a new budget that best supports the education of all our students at a cost we can afford. At this meeting, we set a date for the next budget vote and are sharing it now with our community. Please mark your calendars for Tuesday June 9th; this vote is to consider the proposed FY2016 Mt Abraham Operating Budget. There has been some confusion in the community about what actually is being voted on, this is the budget for the operation of the school in the 2015-2016 school year. Voting will take place in your individual town at your regular polling locations.
The process of developing that new budget will be worked on over the next few weeks. Our next scheduled Board meeting is Tuesday, May 12 at 7:00 in the small cafeteria at Mt Abe. We will be planning additional meeting(s) in May and as we set dates you can find the schedule of Board meetings listed at ANESU.org under the School Board tab-Board meetings calendar.
It is our plan to officially WARN the budget vote on May 26. That is when we will have the details of the budget (dollar amount, reductions, program info, etc). We will also be scheduling a Budget Informational meeting to take place before the vote on June 9th.
It is now and has always been our goal and responsibility to provide a budget that supports the best quality education for our students as they prepare themselves to become productive adults, at a cost acceptable to our community. Watch for additional information regarding the budget in the upcoming weeks.
