Free Discussion on the Legacy of MLK and Race/Racism in Our Community

Past event
Apr 30, 2015, 9 to 10 PM

On Thursday, April 30 at 9pm, Vermont Stage is hosting a panel discussion on the legacy of MLK and issues of race/racism in our community. This panel is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

Panelists include:
Reuben Jackson, host of VPR's Friday Night Jazz
Rachel Siegel, Executive Director of the Peace and Justice Center
Dr. Sherwood Smith of UVM's Dept of Human Resources, Diversity, and Multicultural Affairs
Paul Marcus, white activist from Community Change Inc.

Before the discussion is an INCREDIBLE play that you really should see called The Mountaintop by Katori Hall. Vermont Stage has recreated Room 306 of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis and at the top of the play, Dr. King has just returned from delivering his "I've been to The Mountaintop" speech. A simple room service request leads to a confrontation of King's life, his past, his legacy, and his unfinished dreams.

If you're looking for a discount ticket, the Flynn Box Office will release 10 tickets, 10 minutes before the show, for $10 a piece. Just ask for the 10-10-10 deal! These tickets are guaranteed, if the show sells out, they won't be available. (but they usually are)
