The Hinesburg Historical Society is hosting a presentation of scans of glass plate negatives of pictures taken by Allie Murray in and around Hinesburg. Allie Deberville Murray was born 27 Feb 1890 in Hinesburg. For his 15th birthday he received a camera and for many years after he took pictures of Hinesburg; the village, Hinesburg Pond, the mills… Many of the historical photos of Hinesburg that you’ve seen are Allie Murray photos. Shirley Murray, daughter-in-law of Allie Murray, was very kind to loan the Hinesburg Historical Society her collection of the glass plate negatives this winter. The HHS cleaned, scanned and carefully repackaged the glass plates before returning them to Mrs. Murray. Please join us at the Carpenter Carse Library on Thursday, March 19 at 7pm to see our scans of these treasures!
