Since taking its first call in March 2013, Pathways Vermont's Support Line has completed over 9,400 calls with individuals across the state. The Support Line is more than a number to call, it offers a reliable connection to someone who cares. Someone to listen. A conversation free from judgment or direction. It sounds simple, but the reality is that for many of us these basic supports are the hardest to come by. Just look at the numbers:
-Suicide is the 8th leading cause of death in Vermont.
-One in five American adults feel like they lack sufficient social support.
-One in twelve college students has made a suicide plan.
The Support Line's approach is grounded in a belief of the healing power of connection and trust in the immense capacity for growth, change and resilience that exists in each person. Come learn about the unique approach the Support Line is taking and the progress the line has made as it works towards its goal of making sure every Vermonter knows they have somewhere to turn.
