5th Annual Dance Showcase - "Dance: Community, Movement, Support"
The 5th Annual Dance Showcase - "Dance: Community, Movement, Support" - to benefit Puppets in Education takes place on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at 7 p.m. at the Main Street Landing Black Box Theater, 60 Lake Street, Burlington. Tickets are $20 in advance through the FlynnTix Box Office (www.flynntix.org) or $23 at the door. I am a Waterbury neighbor who is very excited about this event and for a short drive you can see this amazing line up of over 86 dancers/performers and all for a good cause.
The event will feature: Spielpalast Cabaret, Di'Ahna Restry & Liam Reddy of Boston, Pia Louise Capaldi of Maine, Laisse Tomber, Jeh Kulu Dance & Drum Theater, Arunima Dasgupta, Bryce Dance Company with Heather Bryce, Ana Maria Simpson-Rapone & Elizabeth Leahy, Spotlight On Dance & Lizzy Ann Moore, Paula Higa & Laura Gordon, Paul Besaw, Candace Fugazy, Clare Byrne, HighSteppers, Avi Waring & Willow Wonder, Studio 3 Dance, Raq-ettes, Blue Moon Company, Calvin Walker, Shakti Tribal Dance and The Accaliae & Atropa.
100% of proceeds will support Puppets in Education (PiE), a nonprofit program that teaches children how to keep themselves safe and healthy and to appreciate each others differences. With life-sized puppets, PiE reaches over 11,000 children each year throughout VT, NH & NY with their 24 programs, including: disability awareness; abuse prevention; bullies & school safety; cultural diversity; healthy bodies; alcohol, tobacco & drug prevention; Blue (keeping Lake Champlain clean and blue) and demystifying autism.
