Dear Neighbors,
On Monday, the City Council will convene its second of two meetings for the month of December. We will begin our evening with a work session at 6pm on the upcoming legislative season.
We will move upstairs to Contois and convene a brief meeting of the Local Control Commission at 7pm. Our Council meeting will begin immediately thereafter with a vote to approve the indoor and outdoor entertainment permits for several restaurants downtown. We have five resolutions on our agenda. The first is a resolution recommending needle disposal action steps.
The second resolution is regarding creating a development agreement for the redevelopment of the Burlington Town Center. We discussed this resolution at our December 1 meeting. This resolution will create a public review process and timeline for the development agreement with Devonwood Investors, the owner of the Mall. I am particularly excited about this resolution and the public-private partnership we are embarking on to redevelop our downtown mall.
Our last three resolution relate to voting to place questions on the Town Meeting Day ballot. The first is a Charter change to make Board terms three years, the second is concerning reserve funds and the third would eliminate the requirement relating to having to state party affiliation for certain City Boards.
Our last item is an update of the Champlain/Eagles appeal.
At some point in the evening, we will convene a Board of Civil Authority meeting to report on election issues. As you may recall, there were some ballot issues and other campaign concerns raised during the November election. The CAO has issued a report to address these problems and concerns and their remedy.
We will then have council committee reports, comments from councilors and the Mayor.
Please keep in mind that you are welcome to come to a council meeting and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum which begins at 7:30pm.

As always, I welcome your questions and concerns. Please email or give me a call over the weekend or tomorrow.
My best,
Karen
