🎶 Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Evening Featuring Michael Wimberly 🎶
📅 Date: Monday, January 20
🕕 Time: 6:00 PM
📍 Venue: Bennington Theater, 331 Main St, Bennington, VT
Join the Greater Bennington Peace and Justice Center for a powerful and inspiring Martin Luther King Jr. celebration, featuring internationally renowned musician and composer Michael Wimberly. ✊ Through evocative music and thought-provoking reflections, this evening will explore Dr. King's message of justice, love, and the power of change in today's world.
Raised in Cleveland during the civil rights era, Wimberly's musical journey spans soul, funk, jazz, classical, and West African rhythms. Now a faculty member at Bennington College, he brings his talent and passion to this special event, joined by musicians Christopher "Mowgli" Giannitti, Ethan Kelley, John Kirk, and Bob Vacca. 🎶
This year's theme centers on Dr. King's words: "Power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic." Special guests Mia Schultz (NAACP President) and Jack Rossiter Munley (ECDC Refugee Resettlement) will share reflections on justice and hope in our community.
✨ Admission is free, with a goodwill offering supporting the NAACP and ECDC's mission. Co-sponsored by Second Congregational Church and local supporters, this evening promises inspiration, unity, and a call to action. Don't miss it! 🌟
