Dear fellow South District Residents,

I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Burlington Democratic Party (BTV DEMs) South District Council seat. Here's why I am running and why I believe you should join us:

Local Focus:
Since 2021, our city council has taken on nonlocal issues that are dividing our city, and that is unacceptable. A prime example is the Middle East war resolution that took up many hours of the council's time before they even had time for local issues. This must stop. As your future South District City Councilor, I am only going to deal with issues that directly affect the daily lives of our residents.

Affordable and Safe Burlington:
Burlington is an expensive city to live in plus we have safety challenges which require a multifaceted approach including addressing the availability of affordable housing and property taxes. From the public safety and health situation, we can address these critical issues when we address the chronic staff shortage and low morale at the Police Department and street outreach teams. As a result, as your South District city councilor, I will push to address staff shortage and low morale including putting forward a resolution apologizing for the defunding police resolution by the council in 2021.

Downtown:
As someone who manages the downtown transit center, I am committed to addressing the high property tax and combating property theft while fostering a safer, more vibrant downtown core for residents, merchants and visitors alike. This involves advocating for balanced tax policies that alleviate financial pressures on businesses, especially mom and pop shops, enabling them to thrive and contribute to our local economy.
