Are you thinking about buying a telescope for a child or for yourself but it's a confusing topic. How does a telescope work? What types of telescopes are there? What's the difference between an equatorial mount and a Dobsonian? What about finders? What can you see with a home telescope? (It won't look like photos from the James Webb Space Telescope.) Where can I buy a telescope? Are there telescopes NOT to buy? And, of course, how much is this going to cost?

The goal of this presentation is NOT to send you out hunting for a telescope before Christmas. Instead, it's to explain what you need to know to shop for a telescope sensibly after the Christmas shopping mania ends.
