This Saturday is Small Business Saturday, a day for appreciating our local businesses and for local businesses to appreciate their customers and supporters.

An initiative of American Express co-sponsored with the Small Business Administration, SBS started 15 years ago as a counterpoint to the commercial craziness of Black Friday. We think Hardwick does a pretty good job of living local throughout the year, but hey, more appreciation can't hurt.

There's no special plan. Some businesses may do something a little extra. For example, Buffalo Mountain Market will be serving up hot beverages while you shop starting on Friday after Thanksgiving.

So come on down and show a little extra love for our local businesses and all that they add to our local economy and community life.
