The floods of the past two summers have been devastating to Vermont, for our communities and our mental and emotional health. Furthermore, the results of the election earlier this month make it clear that political and social conditions, going forward, will be very, very different than they've been, on both the state and national levels. It's likely to be a difficult and heartbreaking time that we're moving into. It can feel like we've passed the point of hope, but for centuries, community-led social movements have defied expectations to create change, where none was thought possible.
What can we do?
On Tuesday November 19th, 6-8pm, at the Unitarian Church of Montpelier, join 350VT and the Climate Action Team of the Unitarian Church of Montpelier as we present Meteorologist Roger Hill, as an encore presentation to our summer climate education series. Roger will offer the latest data and science from weather hazard climatology with a focus on Vermont. Roger assures us his goal is not to frighten us, but to fortify us with the best information currently available to help us prepare for what is to come. Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity for Q&A with Roger, then an overview of the work 350VT is engaging in, as a response to this hard and heart-breaking moment. We want to hear your thoughts as well. RSVPs here are appreciated, but we would love to see you either way! Refreshments and informal conversations in the vestry will be following the presentation.
Hope to see you there!
