Once again, the Alpha team is busy preparing for this year’s musical. The Alpha team is a group of 78 students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade at Shelburne Community School. What is the Alpha play? Well, the Alpha team is all about teamwork, leadership, and hard work. The play employs all these skills, plus it builds community through theater and the arts. In Shelburne, every December, we put on a musical for the town. This year, you will be transported back in time to ancient Rome as you experience “When in Rome”, a play written by Martin A. Follose. Peasant thieves Gladius, played as Clark Schmitt, Minimus, played as Oscar Ewald, and Julia, played as Talia Loiter, sneak into the royal palace disguised as handmaidens. Gladius is in love with the beautiful princess and simply must catch another glimpse of her. They are promptly caught in a hilarious scene, almost becoming lion food until the princess gets an idea...
Performances of the Alpha Play will be Thursday and Friday, Dec. 11th and 12th at 7:00 in the Shelburne Community School Cafeteria. Tickets are $6 for an adult, $5 for children, and kids under 6 are free. Tickets are available at the door. For more information please visit our website for more details at
