"Understanding Rivers" Program Nov. 14

Nov 14, 2024, 6:30 to 8:30 PM

The Huntington Conservation Commission is organizing a program entitled "Understanding Rivers: Managing for Flood Resilience, Habitat, and Water Quality" at the Huntington Public Library on Thursday, November 14 at 6:30 pm (please note this is a minor time change from the original post).

Shayne Jaquith, Watershed Restoration Manager at The Nature Conservancy and a Huntington resident, will be the primary presenter. Other folks on the panel will include Will Eldridge, Aquatic Habitat Biologist with the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department; Michele Braun, Executive Director of Friends of the Winooski River; and Aaron Worthley, Staff Scientist and GIS Analyst at Arrowwood Environmental and also a Huntington resident. After the presentations, there will be time for questions.

This program is an opportunity to learn more about river processes, particularly as they relate to flood resiliency, habitat, and water quality. How are river mechanics, the historic management of rivers, and climate change driving the instability we are wrangling with today? Please join us for this important and timely discussion.

We will NOT be able to offer a remote (Zoom) option for this event. However, it will be recorded and posted online thanks to MMCTV and a local volunteer.
