Because of the legacy of slavery there have always been calls for freedom, equal protection, equal rights, civil rights and EQUITY! Centering Black and Brown communities and with an eye towards racial justice, Equity Matters holds space for some of the most important pressing issues impacting Black folks in Vermont. Election Night. From the 15th Amendment to the Voting Rights Act of 1965, to Shelby v. Holder, to the flood of state laws limiting voter rights, equity has always mattered with access to the ballot. The Black (and increasingly other folks of color) vote and women's vote are the votes that will likely determine the election. Election Night discussion, as we watch the votes come in.
