Turkey Trot Success & Community Tree Lighting

Past event
Dec 6, 2014

Grand Isle’s first Turkey Trot was a great success. About 75 trotters of all age groups braved the November weather as they walked approximately 3 miles from Donaldson Park through the Grand Isle State Park and back collecting a “poker hand” on the way. After the walk participants danced and visited while the poker hands were counted.. The winning hands of the Vermont Fresh Turkeys were: John Burke, Joan Bartlett and Linda Forrer. Congrats to all and many thanks to our volunteer dealers through out the state park, Michelle Chase & daughter Maggie, Sidney Harris, Destyni Travers, Pat Travers, and Noah Borden and our hot cocoa servers and checker-ins, Aly Larose, Taylor Dickie & Ashley Emmons. Many many thanks to all who came out today! Be sure to save the date for our next community event, our annual Community Tree Lighting to be held on December 6th from 4-5pm, at the Hyde Log Cabin. Cookies & cocoa from the Grand Isle Historical Society and a special visit from the big guy himself Ole’ St. Nick.
