Happy September, Neighbors!

Now that we are on the far side of National Workers Day, we are reconvening our monthly Neighborhood Planning Assemblies. NPAs are community gatherings, open to all, where folks meet to talk about civic issues, hear from our city leaders, and make sure those leaders know what is important to us, individually or as a group. Much more informal than "public forum" at city council, the NPA is a place to speak your mind and actually converse with councilors, department heads, and your neighbors.

We will meet on Wednesday, September 11 at the Friends Meeting House, 173 North Prospect Street. The meeting starts at 6:30 but come early for food!

As always, there is ample time planned for Speakout where you can share what's on your mind. Our City Councilors, Carter Neubieser and Tim Doherty, and our School Commissioner, Gary Golden, will discuss what's going on in their world and hear how you feel about it.

Then Lori Anderson, who manages UVMs natural areas, will give an update on Centennial Woods. Leaving the woods for the streets, we will talk with Laura Wheelock about the big intersection on the Burlington side of the Winooski Bridge ("CoBarRi") and how to make it better for pedestrians, cyclists and motor vehicles; and then with Phillip Peterson, who will update us on a smorgasbord of transportation initiatives going on around the city.
