NAMI Vermont is training individuals to teach our Mental Illness & Recovery Workshop on August 24, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Williston. This daylong workshop, developed by NAMI Vermont, informs community members about mental health diagnoses, treatment options, communication and coping strategies, and resources available in Vermont. Participants in this training will acquire the skills they need to teach this workshop in communities around the state. Mental health providers, peers in recovery, and family members may all apply to the training.
To be eligible for the Mental Illness & Recovery Teacher Training, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must have attended a MIR workshop or completed a Family-to-Family course.
- Must be a current NAMI Vermont member (membership can be obtained before training).
- Peers should be in a comfortable place in their recovery; Family Members should feel comfortable committing to leading workshops.
