Embrace your passion for protecting local woodlands. Join the Agricultural Stewardship Association (ASA) as we tour a portion of Sky Parlor Farm, which was protected with ASA in 2023. Enjoy a leisurely morning walk in the woods, while learning about forest carbon leases and conservation options as a part of land stewardship.
The walk will take place on Saturday, July 13th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Sky Parlor Farm, located at 176 Tug Hollow Road, Salem, NY (Note: property is at the end of Tug Hollow Road). The 480-acre Sky Parlor Farm is the first property that ASA has conserved that contains a lease for carbon credits. Representatives from Forest Carbon Works will help lead the walk and explain the mechanics of carbon leases, and the landowner will be on hand to help answer questions from a landowner's perspective. Attendees will gain insights into effective management techniques designed to ensure the long-term health and resilience of our woodlands.
This Woodland Management Walk is suitable for older children and adults who are eager to increase their understanding of and actively contribute to the conservation of our local woodlands. The program will contain presentations in the beginning, as well as plenty of time for questions and answers on the stroll. Participation is free, but advanced registration is appreciated. Please register online by visiting the ASA website at www.agstewardship.org/events.
Support for this program is generously provided in part by the Robert H. Wentorf Foundation and ASA business sponsors (see website)
