Summer Sunday Inter-Denominational Services Begin

Jul 7, 2024, 5 to 6 PM

The Halifax Union Society will hold six inter-denominational services on alternate summer Sunday evenings beginning on June 23 and continuing through September 1. All services begin at 5PM. We are open and welcoming to all.

Ministers who are comfortable with our informal and inclusive setting will lead each service. Doug LaPlante of Jacksonville Community Church and Wilmington Baptist Church will lead services on June 23 and July 7. Jon Heydenreich, Lutheran pastor and Mindful Minute columnist for the Brattleboro Reformer, will lead on July 21, August 4, August 18, and September 1.

We are located at 44 Stowe Mountain Road in Halifax Center, two miles south of the Halifax town office.

The Union Society was formed in 1891 by neighbors who wanted a local place to worship but lacked enough members to form a congregation of any specific denomination. Now in its 133rd year, the Society continues to offer a summer program of inter-denominational worship, prayer, discussion, and music. Over the years, those attending have included residents of Halifax and nearby towns as well as second homeowners and summer visitors. Although no collection is taken. contributions toward the upkeep of the church building are appreciated.
