In conjunction with the Gruppe Gallery's current exhibit of needle art, Window on Vermont, Diana Snyder of South Burlington will present a talk titled, "Embroidered Books: Memories of Family Activities and Travels" on June 8th at 10am. Diana has used an interesting and impressive variety of embroidery techniques to create picture albums of her various travels and family memories.
Diana's story: Embroidery quickly became a passion in 1979 when I joined the Green Mountain Chapter of Embroiderers' Guild of America. I soon realized that I wanted to expand my teaching education to include embroidery, therefore I pursued an EGA Teaching Certification and Master Craftsman Program in Counted Thread Techniques, both of which I completed over 8 years. I specialize in ethnic needlework, but enjoy most techniques. Since 1980 I have shared my knowledge by tutoring, lecturing and teaching embroidery classes to all ages locally, throughout the United States, and in Canada. My favorite classes are with youth, watching their faces as they create their own embroidered piece. My embroideries have been in numerous chapter exhibits in Vermont and personally twice at EGA Headquarters in Kentucky.
