Adina Gordon comes back to teach and call contra dances this Saturday, with live music by Joy Factor. This excellent trio features Gianna Marzilli Ericson on fiddle, Henry Yoshimura on guitar, and Jeremy Wilmer on even more fiddle! A double fiddle band is a great sound.
Come by 7:30, if you'd like to take part in the intro/refresher lesson. Adina will teach some of the basics of contra dancing, and then we'll have contras from 8:00 to 11:00 PM, with a brief break midway through. Come with your friends, or come alone--there are lots of folks to partner with in this friendly social dance community. If you can walk in time to the music, you'll learn the rest quickly!
Admission: choose the price that matches you--$12 for regular adult-type people, $5 for kids or low-income people, or $20 if you want to help us pay the band, caller and sound really well! Part of the mission of the volunteer organizers is to pay the folks on the stage well for their talents and hard work.
For a great potluck dinner before the dance, join us at 6:00 for the free, open Community Potluck dinner--bring your favorite dish to share, or pick up something at a Farmers Market or a store to contribute. You know you're going to eat dinner somewhere, why not at the Grange Hall?
If you haven't been to the Grange Hall, you've probably driven by it--it's at 6612 VT Rt. 12, just south of the I-89 overpass, and about 1 mile south of Montpelier. Easy to get to, lots of parking, and lots of friendly people.
