Join us as the American Legion Post 14 hosts its annual Memorial Day parade - right here in Vergennes! Hosting since 1946, the parade honors all men and women who served our country during times of conflict. A 1.5-mile route through the Little City begins at Vergennes Union High School, weaving through the downtown, turning at So. Maple Street and continuing beyond.
The theme for this year's parade is "All Gave Some, Some Gave All".
PARADE MARSHALL Mike Jackman - Born and raised in the Little City, Mike has been a member of the American Legion Post #14 for 42 years and an American Legion member for over 50. Jackman served his nation in the US Coast Guard from 1965-1969 and did a tour in Vietnam. He served in the roles of historian, Chaplin, service officer and second vice commander at American Legion Post #14. As a life member of Middlebury VFW Post #7823, Jackman served as Adjutant. Active in service with Meals on Wheels and many projects over the years with the Middlebury Veterans of Foreign Post #7823 and American Legion Post #14, Jackman says Memorial Day is more than just remembrance. It is realizing what all the men and women who serve have done and the time they are away from friends and family. It is understanding the sacrifice of those who gave their lives.
