When Janet Macleod sits down in her studio above the Adamant Co-op, her mind wanders. She picks up a lump of discarded packaging and turns it into a dog. A random dirt road dappled by August sun takes shape as an oil painting; she captures a foggy morning in a loose, free watercolor. An idea presents itself — she embraces it.
Janet's solo show at the Adamant Coop Gallery, "What Comes Next?" is an imaginative romp. Oil paintings, watercolors, papier-mâché and shadow boxes capture changing light, roof pitches, friends leaning into conversation. The show's title also hints at a new direction in Janet's work. Her newest pieces are small, spare, gestural, with a simplicity of form bordering on abstraction.
Please join us for the opening reception this Saturday, May 18, 1-3pm, upstairs at the Adamant Co-op gallery. The show will run through August 18, 2024.
The gallery is open during Co-op hours: 8am-6pm on weekdays, 9-3 on Saturdays, 10-1 on Sundays.
