Contra dance AND waltz--Saturday at Capital City Grange

We've got an extra treat: waltzing from 7:00 to 7:45, before the usual excellent contra dance! Music for the waltzing and the contras will be provided by Springtide, a delightful trio from Maine: Willy Clemetson on fiddle, Elsie Gawler on cello, and Ethan Tischler on guitar. Hannah Chamberlain, also from Maine, will teach the contra introduction/refresher session and call the contra dances.

Come before 7:00, so you can change and/or clean your shoes before the waltzing starts, to help us protect our beautiful dance floor. When the waltzing ends at 7:45, Hannah will teach some of the basics of contra dancing, and then we'll have contras from 8:00 to 11:00 PM, with a brief break midway through. Come with your friends, or come alone--there are lots of folks to partner with in this friendly social dance community. If you can walk in time to the music, you'll learn the rest quickly!

Admission: If you're just coming to waltz, we ask for a $5 admission. For the contra dancing, choose the price that matches you--$12 for regular adult-type people, $5 for kids or low-income people, or $20 if you want to help us pay the band, caller and sound really well! If you're dancing both sessions, please add $5 to the contra dance prices.
