The Marlboro Historical Society will sponsor a spring walk on Saturday, May 18 from 9-11 AM. Marcia Hamilton will lead the group to the site of an early 1800 homestead occupied by Antipass and Lois Kelsey Winchester and their twelve children. The area where they settled at the time was called "four corners" and attention will be focused on an old road, a barn foundation and barnyard. Antipass's grandfather, Joseph Winchester settled down the road in 1772. Today there are about 20 descendants of Joseph Winchester living in Marlboro. The talk will include some genealogy. Meet at Newton House on South Road at 9 AM sharp to carpool to the site. There will not be much walking. The road has been built up so there is a slight incline from the road down to the site where some trees and branches have fallen. One may still walk around the stone foundation. For more information reply to this by email or call/text Marcia Hamilton at 802 490-0347.
