Saturday, May 18th ONE Clean Up/Clean Out Day at SA & IAA
Join your Wards 2, 3, and Central District City Councilors and neighbors for a ONE Clean Up and Clean Out Day on Saturday, May 18th from 10-2:30 at the Sustainability Academy (SA) and Integrated Arts Academy (IAA).
Do you have trash and other household items that have been cluttering your home, yard, or neighborhood? Construction debris? Old furniture. Old microwaves. How about a post-Green Up Day neighborhood clean up?
Come to SA's North Champlain St. parking lot or IAA''s Spring St. parking lot Saturday, May 18 from 10 to 2:30. That a week from this coming Saturday. We'll have a 30-yard disposal roll-off from Myers' at each site to dispose of trash along with facilities for scrap metal and old tire recycling. Volunteers will be provided with trash bags for neighborhood litter pick up and we'll have some sharps containers and protective gloves in case needles are found.
Please know that we can't accept hazardous waste, untreated wood or yard waste, mattresses, or large appliances like refrigerators and freezers. Hazardous waste must be disposed of at CSWD's Environmental Depot, by appointment only. Untreated wood and yard waste must be disposed of free of charge at the McNeil Plant. Bring mattresses to Sleep Well's mattress recycling center on Intervale Road. Electronics (televisions, computers, monitors, radios, etc.) must be disposed of at a CSWD drop off center.
We can use your help getting the word out. We also need people to help us manage the disposal process at each site and/or clean up neighborhood streets. If you have questions or would like to volunteer, please call or email me, Gene Bergman, at gbergman@burlingtonvt.gov or 802-598-3026.
We hope to see you on May 18 for the ONE Clean Up/Clean Out Day at IAA and SA. Thanks.
