Two Nights of "Wonder"

KINDNESS, COMPASSION AND ACCEPTANCE. These values are explored in R.J. Palacio's award-winning DCF book, "Wonder" - the Vermont Humanities Council's 2014 "Vermont Reads" selection.

The community is invited to two "Wonder" events, co-hosted by Waterbury Public Library, Crossett Brook Middle School, and Harwood Union Middle School:
~ First, on Thursday, October 23, meet the Sanborn family from Richmond. The Sanborn's 10 year old daughter, Olivia, was born with a rare craniofacial syndrome called Pfeiffer Syndrome - a similar facial abnormality as the book's main character, Auggie Pullman. They will be sharing a powerpoint presentation about their experiences, challenges and joys of raising her - they are a real live "Wonder" family!
We hope that meeting them will encourage you to read "Wonder", and then join us on
~ Thursday, November 13 when we will have a lively, multi-media discussion of the book, along with other fun activities related to kindness and acceptance.

Both events take place in the Crossett Brook Middle School library at 6:30 PM - light refreshments will be provided. We hope you will join us in discovering with others and reflecting on the ways we can choose kindness and inclusion in our communities.

The Waterbury Public Library has a limited number of copies of "Wonder" at our circulation desk. Please feel free to come and sign-out a copy - you don't need your library card to do so. We want as many people as possible to share this event with us!
