Come and Smell Our Lilacs and Learn All About Lilacs!
SATURDAY, May 11, 10-12
Walk through our lilac collection and delight in the fragrance of beautiful lilac blooms. Tour our many varieties of lilacs with curator Kitty Werner as she tells you "All About Lilacs" and lilac care. She'll discuss their needs and which varieties bloom when--from the earliest to several that bloom in October. Although they are not native to the Americas, they've been here since Europeans brought a bit of home with them centuries ago. Hybridizing has created lilacs with 11 different color groupings and multiple shades of these colors. FREE EMG-E

Presenter's bio: Kitty is the co-president of the Friends of the Hort Farm and curator of the farm's lilac collection. She became an Extension Master Gardener in 2008, joined the Central Vermont chapter and arranged and attended yearly lilac pruning and care events in the Montpelier area. She worked for the EMG program from 2016 – 2018. She has also been a newspaper editor, publisher, book designer, travel agent, and author. And she loves photography.
