The Present (Directed by Farah Nabulsi, 2020, 24 minutes)

Lyd (Directed by Rami Younis and Sara Ema Friedland, 2024, 79 minutes)

Historical and "speculative," this film excavates the history of Lyd, an ancient city whose Arab residents were violently displaced by Israeli forces during 1948, then renamed Lod. It also imagines an alternative reality of a Palestine that was never colonized by Zionist Jews.

From Ground Zero (2024, Official Palestine Submission to the 2025 Academy Awards, 115 minutes)

A blend of animation, documentary realism, and fiction, this film is a compilation of stories from 22 Palestinian filmmakers living through war and forced expulsion in Gaza following the attacks of October 7, 2023. It is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the will to live.

Sunday, February 16, 4 to 6 p.m., Savoy Theater, Montpelier

We Teach Life, Sir (2011, 5 minutes)

A stirring performance by spoken-word artist Rafeef Ziadah, a Palestinian-Canadian poet and human rights activist.
