The lack of available legal observers to mobilize and observe the UVM solidarity encampment this weekend highlights the critical shortage of northern-based legal observers in VT, with most of our state's law student population based in South Royalton. Please join me in getting trained to help protect the constitutional rights of the most important branch of government - the people! Tell everyone. The National Lawyers Guild Legal Observer program is part of a comprehensive system of legal support by our Mass Defense Committee designed to enable people to express their political views as fully as possible without unconstitutional disruption or interference by the police and with the fewest possible consequences from the criminal justice system. Legal Observers are typically, but not exclusively, law students, legal workers and lawyers who may or may not be licensed locally. The presence of Legal Observers may serve as a deterrent to unconstitutional behavior by law enforcement during a demonstration. Legal Observers document the activity of law enforcement at protests.
