Past event

Come join the greater Middlebury Community Music Center Community on Sunday, April 7 at 11 AM for a FREE Zoom-based question and answer session with, and performance by, the great English fiddler Sam Sweeney!

Sam is widely regarded as one of the great English fiddlers of his generation, in large part due to his work with the English folk supergroup Leveret, the mighty Bellowhead, and his own solo work. He is also a passionate teacher, which is sure to make for a particularly engaging and fun conversation. Sam's latest solo album, "Escape That", his most personal album yet, has become a critical darling and drawn rave reviews. Nominated four times for, and in 2015 winner of, Musician Of The Year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Sweeney has been at the forefront of the revival in English music for the last fifteen years. He is widely decorated, and has been called "one of the defining English fiddle players of his generation" (Mark Radcliffe, BBC Radio 2), "Britain's Premiere fiddler" (Songlines), and "the fiddler with the Midas touch… an English equivalent of the great Irish fiddle player Martin Hayes" (The Guardian).
