Balfolk is a really fun, accessible social dance rooted in French, Belgian and other European folk dance traditions. There are circle dances, snakes dances and partner dances--something for everyone!
The Summit School of Traditional Music is putting on a Balfolk dance this Sunday from 6:30-8:30. Music is by Jeremiah McLane and Tim Cummings, otherwise known as Wheezer and Squeezer. Suggestion donation is $10.
Prior to the dance there's a Balfolk music workshop from 1-3 taught by Jeremiah and Tim, and a Balfolk Basics dance workshop from 3:15-5:15 taught by Mary Wesley. Workshop prices are $25/$15 (regular and low-wage/student rates). If you register for both workshops, you get admission to the dance for no extra charge. Advance registration for workshops is preferred.
Everything takes place at the Bethany Church in Montpelier. For more information or to register contact Tracy Loysen at traloysen@gmail.com or visit www.summit-school.org.
