Have you ever wanted to know more about the World War II crash of an Army Air Force bomber on Camels Hump? Although it is not the state's most deadly airplane crash, it is the most famous. Brian Lindner will tell the stories of each of the nine victims plus the sole survivor who lost his hands and feet. The survivor was saved by a Waterbury dentist and a group of Civil Air Patrol cadets, some as young as seventh graders after the Army sent the first rescuers to the wrong side of the mountain. The story shows how World War II came to central Vermont in a major tragedy. Photos of the crew, bomber, wreckage, and rescuers will be featured.
