Totality on the Common! Solar Eclipse Viewing April 8

Past event
Apr 8, 2024, 2 to 4 PM

Total solar eclipses are rare events - any one location on Earth can expect to see one every 300 years or so. And one is coming to Vermont this spring! Craftsbury will be in the Path of Totality for the Solar Eclipse happening on Monday, April 8 and everyone is invited to an eclipse viewing party on the Common from 2-4pm. Please follow the signs for free parking at Dustan Field or Auld Lange Syne Road so we can keep the Common passable for school traffic.

There will be free eclipse glasses for the first 500 participants, a solar telescope projecting this rare celestial event, and a Storywalk of A Few Beautiful Minutes about the solar eclipse set up around the Common. The Craftsbury PTO will be selling snacks and eclipse Frisbees, and lawn games like giant chess and corn hole will be set up. In the event of inclement weather, there will be a livestream of the eclipse on the big screen inside the library.
