I'm posting this for Colleen Balch who worked with a group of us on Mount Philo a few weeks ago. She is very knowledgeable, fun and encouraging! I would encourage folks interested in invasives and what to do about them to go to learn more and be inspired by her! We were!

A wonderful free event is happening on Saturday, October 4th from 9:30 am until 4 pm at the Dead Creek Wildlife Management Area. It’s the 13th Annual Dead Creek Wildlife Day! Wildlife is only one of the many things that are impacted by invasives. Folks who missed the Invasive Plant Habitat Restoration program at Mount Philo State Park on September 14th can get in on an Invasives Walk from 11am to noon with Colleen Balch, Invasives Expert, to learn how to identify and control land-based species and to learn about their impacts on Vermont’s natural communities. A Wise-on-Weeds activity that connects folks with a broad range of information on invasives in Vermont, will be happening all day as well. There will also be bird banding demonstrations, live New England critters, fishing know-how, hunting dog handling, Bluebird box building, decoy carving and much much more happening throughout the day. For more information on Dead Creek Wildlife Day, go to www.vtfishandwildlife.com . To learn about or schedule a free, half-day Invasive Plant Habitat Restoration program for your group of 10 - 120, contact Colleen Balch at 802-377-2615 or colleen.balch@state.vt.us .
