Hello Old North End & Downtown neighbors!

This Thursday evening, join your neighbors for a delicious community dinner with live music, followed by the Wards 2 & 3 Neighborhood Planning Assembly (NPA) meeting.

This month's NPA meeting is primarily focused on the candidates and ballot questions for the upcoming election on March 5 (including a forum for Ward 3 City Councilor candidates). *Heads up: The City ballot will be mailed to all active registered voters by Feb 14. Election info: https://www.burlingtonvt.gov/CT/Elections

Dinner is 5:30 - 6:30pm. On the menu: a Moroccan Feast! PLUS live Mardis Gras music PLUS a make-your-own Valentine's card activity! Learn more: http://onecommunitydinner.weebly.com/

The NPA meeting is 6:30 - 8:36pm. It's a packed night because of the election and other very important and exciting agenda items!

The agenda:

6:30pm - The NPA meeting will start with the usual: intros, announcements, and 10 minutes of public forum.

*One announcement we want to share now is that the City is looking for 1-2 folks who live in Ward 2 to join a stakeholder roundtable on February 22nd regarding North Winooski Avenue. This is part of a citywide Transportation Options Study. We'll gather names of anyone interested at the NPA and pass them along to the City. Learn more about the plan: https://www.burlingtonvt.gov/cityplanning/TDM.

6:50pm - We'll vote on a candidate to join the Ward 3 NPA Steering Committee: Jessy Robbins.

*Note that we have room on the Steering Committee for members from both Wards 2 and 3! If you're interested in joining or learning more about what it involves, please reach out to any member of the Steering Committee or email us at wards2and3npa@googlegroups.com.

6:55pm - Fosca Bechthold and Scott Rogers of the Community and Economic Development Office (CEDO) will be asking us for our input on housing and community development priorities. Our responses will feed into a 5-year plan for how the City will use federal funds: the "Consolidated Plan for Housing and Community Development for 2024-2028".

7:10pm - An overview of each of the 3 ballot questions (20 min total):
- Burlington School District's Budget
- Burlington Electric Department Credit Limit
- Public Safety Tax

7:30pm - Statements from candidates in uncontested races (6 min total):
- Ward 2 City Council Candidate: Gene Bergman, Progressive
- Ward 3 School Commissioner Candidate: Saja Almogalli
- Ward 2 School Commissioner Candidate: Polly Vanderputten

7:36pm - A forum for Ward 3 city council candidates (60 min):
- Malik Mines (Democrat)
- Joe Kane (Progressive)
- Christopher Aaron-Felker (Republican)

We'll wrap up a little after 8:30pm.

When it's finalized, the official agenda will be posted to our website (http://wards2and3npa.weebly.com/agenda.html) and to CivicClerk (https://burlingtonvt.portal.civicclerk.com/?category_id=73)
