Join us on Sunday, January 28, 2024: 5 pm at the Latchis Theater in Brattleboro
As a part of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Windham World Affairs Council (WWAC) will partner with Brattleboro Union High School's PeaceJam Club, the Brattleboro Area Jewish Community and the Latchis Theater to present a community screening of "The Cure for Hate: Bearing Witness to Auschwitz' with a live discussion with the film's subject, former neo-Nazi Tony McAleer, and Director Peter Hutchison. The film depicts McAleer's journey from troubled teen drawn into white supremist ideology to a man trying to make amends for his hate-filled past.
This film discusses the horrors of the Holocaust and the persistence of white supremacist/ neo-Nazi ideas today. The film explores how one individual came to reject his white supremacist beliefs. It's of interest to everybody to see how the process of deradicalization can happen.
The program is free with a $10 suggested donation. No one will be turned away for a lack of funds. Please secure your seat in the Latchis main theater and/or donate to support PeaceJam and WWAC at: https://thecureforhatebrattleboro.eventbrite.com
The event is brought to you in part by the Vermont Humanities Council
